Overview:
The VC02-006 Fill and Drain Valve is designed for charging
and venting high pressure pneumatic systems.
The valve consists of a Flight Half and Ground Half Coupling
and is constructed from stainless. The Ground Half displaces
the sealing mechanism, its probe passing through a ‘O’
ring providing a seal, when it is mated/screwed onto the flight
half creating a flow path to permit charging/venting. The
external cap complete with a seal on the external port provides
a seal to vacuum. In the VC02-007 variant a softer seal allows
use at low pressures.
Once the charge hose is disconnected the sealing mechanism
returns to its original position under the force of a spring.
The secondary seal to vacuum is provided by a cap complete
with seal fitted to the external port.
The valve was originally developed for aerospace application
and was qualified for space flight for use on SNAP.
