Product
Overview:
The BS25-001 propellant tank is a stainless steel pressure
vessel for use with liquid propellants.
For its design application the tank stores butane in its
liquid form. A propellant management device (PMD) ensures
that liquid is stored away from the outlet such that only
vapour is drawn from the tank during operational firing.
The tank is manufactured from Stainless Steel and is designed
for use with liquid propellant. The tank is constructed with
Aluminium mesh screens and baffles at regular intervals within
to help prevent ‘sloshing’ of the propellant.
The tank is a passive device with no moving parts. The tank
housing is of stainless steel AISI 316L construction, consisting
of two hemispherical end pieces joined by a cylindrical centre
portion. Tank closure is by two electron beam welds.
The tank inlet and outlet are located at the poles of the
respective domes. The internal parts of the tank are a filter
assembly located at the equator of the outlet dome and a series
of aluminium inserts located in the cylindrical section. The
BS25-002 variant incorporates 6 anti-slosh baffles manufactured
from 22% open area aluminium discs.
