Overview:
The SV12 is a solenoid operated flow control valve for
use with liquid apogee engines. The valve design has a single
seat, dual coil, normally closed, non-sliding fit configuration.
The design is based on established solenoid valve technology.
The solenoid operated valve has dual redundant coils and
is manufactured from Stainless Steel and Radiometal with a
PTFE seat. Materials used have been selected on the basis
of their proven heritage and compatibility with the defined
operating fluids.
The valve is solenoid operated comprising of a fixed pole
and a suspended moving pole/armature, to which is attached
the sealing feature of the valve. The solenoid actuator of
the valve has two independent, fully redundant, coils i.e.
each coil is independently capable of meeting the full performance
envelope of the valve. The valve and solenoid actuator are
designed not to generate debris during operation.
The valve comprises a ‘flat faced’, flexure supported,
armature within which is housed a PTFE seal feature. Sealing
of the valve to atmosphere shall be by means of all welded
joints.
