Product
Overview:
A solenoid valve designed as the basis for a family of
valves with a minimum number of component amendments to achieve
configurations.
The basic configuration can be adapted to suit various configurations
including cold gas thruster (with thrust levels between 0.1N
and 5N) or in-line solenoid valve.
Based on an existing design incorporating flexure guidance.
This valve was one of several components developed for space
applications under a DTI funded SMART programme.
The thruster is a mono-stable solenoid operated poppet valve.
With a diaphragm flexure spring support for the moving pole
the design avoids the use of "sliding fit" bearing
surfaces. The valve comprises a coil, fixed pole and a suspended
moving/armature, to which is attached the sealing poppet.
The poppet/seat interface has been designed to minimise flow
discontinuities and therefore reduce susceptibility to contamination
induced failures.
The SV06 can be fitted either with an expansion nozzle for
operation as a cold gas thruster, or with threaded fittings
or stub pipes for use as an in-line valve.
