Overview:
The SV07-002 valve is a latching valve for use within
high pressure pneumatic systems.
The valve is a magnetic latching valve, comprising a dual
coil, fixed pole, permanent rare earth magnet and a suspended
moving pole/armature, to which is attached the sealing feature
of the valve. The moving pole suspension design eliminates
any sliding fits, thus ensuring low leakage rate throughout
life and the elimination of particle generation.
The operating principle is as follows. The valve is a normally
closed type held in the closed position by a helical spring.
The valve is energised open by a short DC current pulse to
the primary coil. Once open with the energising current off,
the valve is latched open by the magnetic force exerted by
the rare earth permanent magnet. A DC current pulse applied
to the secondary coil negates this latching force and allows
the spring to return the valve to the closed position. In
the event of either coil failing, reversal of the polarity
of either coil will cause it to change its function.
This valve design upon which this unit is based is the SV07
001 low pressure latching valve (LPLV), which in turn is based
upon an existing design of normally closed non-latching solenoid
valve.
